Coolant ratio / mix calculator.

Coolant runs best at the manufacturer's specified concentration — too rich wastes money and irritates skin; too lean drops corrosion protection and accelerates rancidity. This calculator gives the concentrate-to-water split for any sump size.

Typical concentrations

  • General machining5–8%
  • Heavy-duty / steel8–10%
  • Aluminum5–7%
  • Stainless / Inconel8–12%
  • Grinding3–5%
  • Sawing / threading10–15%
Mixing tip: Always add concentrate to water — never water to concentrate (the “OIL” rule: Oil In Last — add the concentrate to the water). Adding water last causes premature emulsion break.
