304 stainless
Complex internal channel geometry held to tight tolerances on our Doosan DVF 5000 5-axis center; inspected for position and parallelism on our Hexagon Global S CMM before shipment. The intersecting cross-drilled passages are deburred clean where they break through, so nothing restricts flow or sheds into the system.
Aluminum 6061-T6 (chromate conversion / Alodine)
Complex internal geometries machined in a single setup on our Doosan DVF 5000 to eliminate accumulation errors. Ports and bolt patterns are verified on our Hexagon Global S CMM as required before coordinated chromate conversion.
Aluminum (coordinated white coating + chromate bore)
Machined complete on our milling centers, then sent out for a coordinated white coating with a chromate-converted bore. The bolt-circle pattern and the stepped sealing bore are checked for position and concentricity before the part leaves the floor.
303 stainless
B-axis turn-mill consolidates what would be 3+ setups into a single chuck. The clocked flange features index off the same datum as the central bore, so cumulative position error stays in the noise.
Aluminum 6061-T6
B-axis turn-mill on the SMX 2600ST does this in one chuck: bore and turn the tube on the main spindle, swing the B-axis tool spindle in to face the flange and drill the counterbored bolt-circle, part off. No tube pressed or welded into a separate flange — no joint to leak, no assembly tolerance to argue about. The way it should look at inspection: one part number, one piece.
Aluminum 7075-T6
Pressed pins fail at the press-fit interface. By machining the pin integral to the clevis from a single 7075 billet, we eliminate the failure mode entirely and remove an assembly tolerance from the stack-up.
Aluminum 6061-T6 (tumbled finish)
A prism mount has to hold its optic in true alignment, so the pair come off the machine as a matched set. We fixture them in soft-jaws on our horizontal machining center, run them in one program, and verify the prism-seat geometry on both before they leave the machine. The set is tumble-finished together for a uniform, deburred edge.
Radel PPSU (blue)
Machined from blue Radel PPSU rod — no tooling, no minimum order, no injection mold to amortize. Like other high-performance polymers, Radel needs light cuts, sharp tools, and air-blast cooling to avoid melting at the cut edge. The color is through the resin, so machined edges read the same as the surface — no white fringe at the bore. The right approach for prototype and low-volume runs where a mold tool would never pay off.
17-4PH stainless
Continuous-curve transitions between the cylindrical pivot and contoured I-beam profile are run on our ultra-rigid Kitamura Mytrunnion 4G 5-axis center. Inspected on our Hexagon Global S CMM to maintain strict weight-to-strength structural limits.
Brass
Machined on our multi-tasking Doosan Puma SMX 2600ST turn-mill center. Critical masking lands are verified on our Keyence IM-7000 image dimension measurement system, then the masked DLC / PVD coating is coordinated with the finish supplier.
4340 / 17-4PH steel (LHE cadmium plate)
We turn posts on our Doosan Puma SMX 2600ST and mill rails on our Doosan DNM-4500-S, then coordinate post-machining LHE cadmium processing, final assembly, and torque specs. Inspected and verified as a unit on our Hexagon Global S CMM.
Aluminum 6061-T6 (chem-film / MIL-DTL-5541)
5-axis profiling on our Doosan DVF 5000 keeps the cantilevered front lugs perfectly coplanar. Features are verified on our Keyence VR-6200 3D profiler as required before coordinated MIL-DTL-5541 conversion coating.
Aluminum 6061-T6
Programmed and machined on our Mori Seiki SH503 horizontal machining center. Cutting the concentric bearing counterbore and the mounting-flange face in one setup eliminates the stack-up error typical of multi-setup operations.
304L stainless (MAGNAGOLD® TiN coating)
Turned on our Doosan Puma SMX 2600ST. The coordinated MAGNAGOLD® coating — a titanium-nitride surface treatment — gives the 304L manifold a hard, low-friction, corrosion-resistant surface with essentially no dimensional buildup, which is why it gets specified for spaceflight fluid systems. 304L's low carbon keeps the passivated fluid path clean, and the concentric sealing diameters are turned and verified before the part goes out for coating.
Aluminum 6061-T6 (coordinated Type III black hardcoat anodize)
Milled on our high-speed Doosan DVF 5000. Because Type III hardcoat anodize grows surfaces by roughly 0.5 mil per side, our team machines the pilot bores oversize to preserve post-finish fit on production runs.
Brass C360
Turned and bored in a single cycle on our Tsugami Swiss-type lathe, then transferred to our 5-axis cells for cross-milling. The split kerf is cut clean and stress-free on our Fanuc Alpha wire EDM to prevent ears from distorting under load.
303 / 316L stainless (passivated per AMS 2700)
Swiss-machined on our Tsugami lathe, keeping both thread bands perfectly concentric. Thread roots receive coordinated AMS 2700 passivation, and hex flats are polished to reduce thread-galling and meet clean assembly requirements.
Ti-6Al-4V titanium
A titanium component for a surgical camera system. The outer cylinder and pilot nose are turned on a CNC lathe, then the part transfers to our Haas VF-6 for the internal cavity and cross-features. Ti-6Al-4V punishes shortcuts — low thermal conductivity concentrates heat at the cutting edge, so it takes sharp tooling, the right speeds and feeds, and a rigid setup to hold tolerance without chatter.
Steel
Turned to final spec on our Doosan Puma SMX 2600ST. Stepped outer shoulders and flanged diameters are turned in one setup, eliminating cumulative errors and delivering a sub-16 Ra mirror bore that requires no secondary grinding.
Aluminum 6061-T6 (coordinated Type II Class 2 anodize, dyed black)
From solid billet to thin-wall open frame requires precise thermal stability on our simultaneous Doosan DVF 5000 5-axis center. Finished with coordinated Type II Class 2 black anodizing and verified on our Hexagon Global S CMM for strict flatness of coplanar mounting faces.
Aluminum 6061-T6 (coordinated clear anodize)
Profiled on our simultaneous Kitamura Mytrunnion 4G 5-axis machining center. We condense six separate setups into a single 5-axis program to keep bore alignment tied to one fixturing, and cut the stress-relieving split kerf on our Fanuc Alpha C400iB wire EDM.
Aluminum 6061-T6
Milled on our rigid Doosan DNM-4500-S VMC. Using custom slit-saw cutters on our 4th-axis rotary head lets us machine tall, ultra-thin fins at high feed rates without dimensional deflection, maintaining precise flow-channel spacing.
Ultem 5201 (glass-filled PEI)
Surfaced on our ultra-rigid Kitamura Mytrunnion 4G 5-axis machining center. Glass-filled Ultem is stiff and dimensionally stable — and abrasive: the glass fill eats cutting edges, so it takes fresh sharp carbide, high-speed surfacing toolpaths, and clean air-blast cooling to hold sub-thousandth stability without deflection or edge fuzzing.
Brass C360
Mill-turned in a single-cycle setup on our Doosan Puma SMX 2600ST turn-mill center. Free-machining brass lets us run high surface footage, holding concentricity between the multi-angle ports and external threads to tight TIR specifications without secondary operations.
Bronze (Naval / C95400 class)
Bronze is the marine fluid-system default: it shrugs off salt-water corrosion and galls less than stainless against bronze mating parts. The bellows section absorbs thermal growth and misalignment so the flanged joints don't see it. Square and round flange faces are CMM-verified for flatness and bolt-circle position so both seal on first assembly.
Aluminum 6061-T6
The round body and internal stepped bore are turned and bored concentric to the bolt-ring mouth so the rotating assembly seats true; the mounting foot and its slotted adjustment hole are milled in the same fixturing. Integral foot means no welded bracket to crack and no alignment drift between the foot and the bore axis.
Titanium (bead-blast finish)
There are no flats to register on, so the whole contoured surface is driven as one continuous 5-axis toolpath — any 3+2 stair-stepping would telegraph through the matte finish. The hollow bore and the tapped side boss are machined true to the bore axis, and the bead-blast leaves the uniform, non-directional finish a medical device calls for.
Aluminum 6061-T6 (chem-film / MIL-DTL-5541, gold)
Pocketing a thin-wall open box out of solid billet is a fixturing problem — the part gets less rigid with every pass, so roughing and finishing strategy has to keep the walls supported until the last cut. The cantilevered feet are milled in the same setup as the bore so they stay coplanar and true to the housing datum. Coordinated gold chem-film (MIL-DTL-5541) adds corrosion protection and keeps the surface electrically conductive — no dimensional change, so the bore and bolt positions stay inside print tolerance after finishing.
303 / 316L stainless
The thread band, register shoulders, and bore are all turned from the same setup so they share a common axis — critical for a coupling that has to thread up square and seal against the mating face. The bolt-circle holes are drilled true to that axis on the mill. Polished bore so the sealing face slides clean.
17-4PH stainless
Turn the bore and OD to a mirror finish, then transfer to 5-axis to mill the scalloped flange and drill the counterbored bolt circle true to the bore axis. The lobed flange isn't decorative — it removes mass between bolt locations where the material does no work, holding stiffness where the fasteners are while shedding weight everywhere else. Bolt-circle true position verified on the Hexagon Global S.
Aluminum 6061-T6 (bead-blast finish)
Triangulated ribs put material only where the load path needs it — maximum stiffness-to-weight. The mounting feet sit on three different planes, so a 3-axis approach would mean multiple setups and a tolerance stack between them; on the Kitamura Mytrunnion 4G we hit them all from one fixturing so they stay true to each other. Even bead-blast finish (in-house Cyclone cabinet) hides the toolpath and gives a uniform matte.
303 / 316L stainless
A reducer only works if the large flange bore and the small spigot share a true common axis — any runout between them and the flow path kinks at the step. Turned in one chuck so concentricity is built in, then the bolt-circle is drilled true to that axis. Polished internal taper keeps flow clean through the transition.
Aluminum 6061-T6
The internal lobe profile is the torque-transmitting feature — it's the part that makes this a coupling and not just a ring. Milled rather than broached, so we hold the lobe geometry and the round OD concentric in one setup. The flats and reliefs between lobes are deliberate: they keep the part balanced and shed mass where it does no work.
Brass (coordinated tin plate)
A saddle clamp is usually a stamped bracket plus hardware; machining it as a single billet part gives a stiffer, more repeatable cradle with the saddle radius held to print, and the base flange and saddle are cut from the same setup so the cradle sits square to the mounting plane. Coordinated tin plating over brass is the functional finish — it gives a conductive, low-resistance contact surface for electrical bonding and EMI grounding while keeping the brass solderable and corrosion-free at the clamp interface.
Steel
A lens coupler lives or dies on bore concentricity — any runout and the optics sit off-axis. Turned in one chuck so the bore and outer diameters share a true axis, with the flange lip faced square to register the mating lens tube, then milled for the cross-features. Clean turned finish, no secondary grinding required.
Brass (nickel plated, tungsten-insert ID)
Formed sheet metal springs back and the holes drift; machining the shroud from solid brass locks the curved profile and the mounting-tab positions to each other. The continuous-curve surface comes off a 5-axis program, the ID is bored to seat a pressed tungsten insert for a hard wear face, and the coordinated nickel plate gives the brass a hard, corrosion-resistant skin. Heavier than a stamping — but dimensionally exact and far stiffer where it matters.
