5-Axis Vertical Milling
Doosan DVF 5000 — what we run on it.
5-axis 500mm machining center with 8-pallet pool, 18,000 RPM spindle, 120-tool magazine, in-process probing, and 1,000 PSI through-spindle coolant. Built for lights-out production of repeatable 5-axis parts at volume.

02 · Sweet spot
High-volume, repeatable, 5-axis.
The DVF’s 8-pallet pool is the differentiator. Operators load 8 fixtures end-of-shift; the machine cycles through them unattended through the night. We’ve measured an 80% throughput gain on a high-volume aluminum housing running lights-out.
- Industrial electronics enclosures — 6061-T6, MIC-6. 200–800 parts/month volume.
- Defense bracket families — 7075-T7, 17-4PH. 5-sided machining in single setup.
- UAV airframe components — pocketed structural parts, repeatable across the fleet.
- Inconel turbine vanes
- Medical instrument bodies — 316L, 17-4PH H1025. Production runs with full traceability.
03 · When NOT to pick this
Wrong-fit jobs.
- One-off prototype work → Kitamura Mytrunnion. Single-fixture trunnion is faster to set up for a one-and-done part.
- Large flat plate work (>14″) → Haas VF-6 (64×32×30) or DNM-4500-S (31×17×20). DVF envelope tops at 500mm.
- Bar / cylindrical work → Doosan SMX or Mori Seiki turn-mill.
- Tight-tolerance precision (0.0001″ class) → Makino S56 or Wire EDM for that class of work.
